Want to Learn More About Personal Insurance Coverage And Options? Check out these Helpful Tips From Robley:

Have a qualified contractor inspect home damage before making a claim.

Before you turn in a Homeowner’s Insurance claim of any kind, have a qualified contractor inspect the damage. Many times, homeowners quickly turn in a claim, only to find out that the damage is less than their deductible, or they don’t really have damage at all. The claim still counts against you, even if it does not pay out a single dollar. This could negatively influence your rates down the road. Always have a qualified professional inspect damage before submitting a claim!

Be sure you have good liability limits on your personal auto policy.

It is important that you have good liability limits on your personal auto policy. If you have anything less than $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident, you should look at increasing that liability. It doesn’t cost much to increase the liability coverage, and it is well worth it. At Robley, we suggest $250,000 per person and $500,000 per accident.

Get a personal umbrella policy.

If you make a decent household income, or if you have any assets at all, a $1,000,000 Personal Umbrella is a must. Depending on your situation, it is often $250-$500 per year to purchase an additional $1,000,000 of liablity coverage. Liablity is your single largest exposure as an individual, so it is worth the investment.
